ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES

Ledgemere also offers spanish class once a week for children ages 4 and older.  We have an outside music and movement teacher who visits most classes once a month with different large motor activities that challenge eye hand coordination, gross motor skills and all levels of motor planning for young children. Adjacent to our fenced in playground we have a "nature trail area" where the children can explore the Maine woodlands habitat when they are accompanied by a teacher.

Ledgemere offers parent-teacher conferences twice a year, as well as Kid's Night and Parent's Night which are explained in more detail below.  Ledgemere offers children aged 4 and older a Character Development Curriculum once a week, where the children explore the different aspects of being a good citizen not only within our Ledgemere community but within Cape Elizabeth and beyond.  The curriculum explores such topics as bullying, stealing, fibbing and many more!  The curriculum was developed around a series of books which are read to the class and then the children become active participants in a discussion about the story's events, characters and moral.

PARENT'S NIGHT

In October, Ledgemere hosts a parent's night for each class.  Parents only are invited to Ledgemere to view their child's work, learn more about what they have been doing in school and how they are adjusting to school routines.  It is also an opportunity for parents to meet one another and begin to form friendships which are so important as the children make their own friends and grow up.

KID'S NIGHT

In March, Ledgemere hosts a kid's night for each class.  The children are asked to invite a special adult to join them for a fun night at Ledgemere.  The child and friend/parent/grandparent explore the classroom, participate in a project, and meet the child's friends!  It is a fun night that we encourage the child to be the leader and "show off" his school, work and knowledge.
