LEDGEMERE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL'S PHILOSOPHY

At Ledgemere, we value the individuality of each and every child, understanding that children grow and develop at at their own pace.  Young children are naturally curious and eager learners.  They learn best when they are able to make choices and to follow many of their own interests and desires to learn.  The staff of Ledgemere is comprised of professionals that have been educated and trained in the unique field of early childhood education.  As teachers of young children, we consciously nurture life long learners.   We are committed to enriching each child's early childhood education so that they are self confident and ready to begin their elementary school experiences.  We strive toward the development of a positive self image...a child who is secure, independent, self-confident and happy!  As early childhood eduucators we realize that social skills are extremely important.  We believe that children learn not only from us but from one another as well.  The teachers of Ledgemere facilitate children in helping each other to develop a sense of responsibility, to respect themselves and others, and to learn how to learn.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS FOR ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING LEDGEMERE

Ledgemere is a nursery school that serves children beginning at age 2 and continuing through kindergarten. We offer developmentally appropriate curriculums based upon the chronological age of each child as dictated by the NAEYC. Our educational goals are to prepare children socially, physically, emotionally and cognitively for their continued educational experiences. We strongly believe that young children should be allowed to learn through play, by giving them a rich classroom experience that will foster a love of learning. The children will learn pre-reading, pre-math, listening and cooperation skills that are integral to their success as they begin their academic careers in first grade.
